La Liga giants Real Madrid are casting their net towards the shores of Merseyside, with Everton and England Under-21 centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite emerging as a surprise target.

The 20-year-old defender has impressed scouts with his commanding presence and aerial prowess in the Premier League, despite Everton’s struggles this season. His performances haven’t gone unnoticed by Carlo Ancelotti, who coached Branthwaite during his brief stint at Goodison Park, and the Italian manager is believed to be a keen admirer of the youngster’s potential.

Branthwaite’s contract with Everton runs until 2025, but the Toffees may be tempted to cash in if Real Madrid come knocking with a sizeable offer. The Spanish giants are in the market for a long-term defensive partner for Eder Militao, and Branthwaite’s age and potential fit the bill perfectly.

However, a move to the Bernabéu would be a significant step up for Branthwaite, who is still relatively inexperienced at the top level. He would face fierce competition for a starting place from the likes of Militao, David Alaba, and Nacho Fernández.

Despite the challenges, the prospect of playing for Real Madrid would be a dream come true for any young footballer, and Branthwaite would undoubtedly relish the opportunity to test himself against the best in the world.
