Real Madrid Keen on Re-signing Raphael Varane

LaLiga giants Real Madrid are eyeing a surprising return for their former talisman, Raphael Varane. The Frenchman, now 30, could be on his way back to the Bernabéu just two years after departing for Manchester United. This potential homecoming comes in the wake of a devastating blow for Real, with star defender David Alaba sidelined by a serious injury.

Alaba’s absence leaves coach Carlo Ancelotti with a defensive headache, his options now limited to Eder Militao (still recovering from an ACL tear) and the veteran Nacho Fernandez. Varane, with his wealth of experience and established chemistry with Real’s backline, emerges as a potentially quick and efficient solution.

Manchester United might be open to negotiations, especially with Varane’s playing time at Old Trafford being inconsistent. Both clubs could find this deal mutually beneficial, especially as Varane, who already won four Champions League titles with Real, still harbors ambitions for the ultimate European glory.

However, a potential snag lies in the transfer fee. United are likely to demand a sizeable chunk of the €40 million they paid for Varane, and Real may have to negotiate carefully to bring their former hero back to the Spanish capital.
